Uzma S. Burki

Background: 

Altvia Consulting, LLC was founded by Uzma S. Burki in 2006. Ms. Burki began her career with Citigroup abroad in the emerging markets as a banker and then worked in New York and Ft. Lauderdale, respectively, as Vice President of employee development, knowledge management and training. She also held a senior level position as Senior Vice President, Head of Retail Performance and Development for National City Bank in Cleveland. Later, she joined Ameriprise Financial Services in Minneapolis as the Chief Learning and OD Officer and HR Strategist. Most recently, she was the Head of Human Resources, Vice President for Biomedical Services at the American Red Cross based in Washington, D.C., providing support to over 20,000 employees and managing a staff of 250 to 212 people with an annual budget ranging from US$51 to 23 million. In this function, she had responsibility for talent acquisition, labor relations, employee relations, talent management, executive developments, total rewards (compensation and benefits), HR policies and procedures, change management and balance scorecard.  Uzma also worked at Amtrak as Senior Vice President of HR Strategy and COEs leading business transformational change. Most recently, she was the Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer as well as Corporate Officer at Battelle Memorial Institute. Ms. Burki is Six-Sigma certified and a Blackbelt.

She is PHR, SPHR, HCS, MHCS, SWP, WLCP, Six-Sigma certified. She is master certified in change management the ADKAR methodology through ProSci. She is as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Management on Organizational Change, Diversity and Cultural Globalization at George Mason University. Ms. Burki has presented at various conferences and is the author of a book entitled, When Talent Goes Global: What CEOs, Boards and the Management Teams Must Learn and Do to Win through a Diverse Global Workforce.
